CCA Curriculum: Discovering interests through exploration

Wednesday 10 Jan 2024

Children, with a sense of curiosity, are natural explorers. They are small-bodied but yet they have infinite potential and endless possibilities. They are natural musicians, grooving along when they hear music. They are natural artists, with great imagination and creativity. They are natural architects and engineers, with boundless energy and love building with their hands.

At King’s Kindergarten, we view our children as rising stars and we strive to bring them towards excellence. Hence, we aim to provide our children with learning opportunities for them to realise their potential.

01 What is CCA?

Co-Curricular Activities (in short CCA) at King’s Kindergarten covers different learning areas; music and rhythm, cookery, science experiments, constructing, photography, dance and math. During CCA time, each KG3 class is spilt into smaller groups to join groups from other classes to form a new class.

At King’s, we are committed to develop self-motivation, self-confidence, independency in learning and global citizenship in our children. Our CCA curriculum not only allows children to explore their interests through different developmental areas, but also enhances their love for learning. In the process of lessons delivery, children have opportunities to interact with other teachers and children, hence building on their social and communication skills.

02 Fun moments during CCA

Making a rainbow using milk, food colouring and dishwashing liquid. We enjoyed seeing the different liquids react and merge with each other?

Discovering maths secrets with playing cards. What secrets? What impact does this have on the children? Learn to play together?

Doing our part to help our Earth to reduce, reuse and recycle.Doing our bit, Playing our part

We can use toilet rolls, plastic hose, milk cartons and water bottles to make a marble run track. This requires children to think logically and critically and use their imagination and creativity to create the tracks.

Food tastes better when you make it yourself. Appreciate the efforts of others?

Moving rhythmically to Carl Orff’s music. Children are learning to make rhythmic music using different percussion instruments.

Here at King’s, children have opportunities to uncover their interests, skills and talent. Ignite their interests, develop their skills and find their talents. Through the process of learning through play, children are constantly making new discoveries and trying out new experiences. When learning is fun, they’ll never want to stop.
