This International Day of Friendship was accomplished through the joint efforts of students, teachers, and parents. Students not only participated, but also contributed to the planning.

Before the official activities began, teachers and students selected the countries they wanted to “transform” into. Over the course of one month, they conducted research and explored the daily life and cultural traditions of children from those countries, and prepared activities related to them in their classes.

Before the event

Assisted by Chinese and foreign mentors, students designed activities, purchased materials to decorate their classrooms, and discussed and decided on the details of the day’s events, which cultivated their sense of ownership and promoted their independence in learning.

During the event

On the day of the event, every student in kindergarten and primary school was a global citizen. They held a passport and visited different countries, traveling around the world on campus, feeling the charm and culture of different countries from the seven continents.

At the same time, enthusiastic parents also participated, such as second-grade parents and students preparing for a New Zealand dance performance, dancing traditional dances with everyone; third-grade teachers and students performing Indian dances, receiving thunderous applause. Students, teachers, and parents formed a learning community that promoted mutual encouragement and growth.

We live in a globalized world, but most textbooks still mainly focus on the culture of one country. In life, however, students’ growth is influenced by globalization: the ancient and profound Chinese culture, the rich and deep French art, the all-encompassing American social ideas… These elements have left their mark on students’ growth in different ways.

Through this activity, we hope to cultivate students’ international thinking, present cultural elements of various countries more vividly, and help them see the world more clearly with a global perspective.
