First online counselling with Bath Rep

Saturday 22 Feb 2020
Ciara Newby, admissions representative of the University of Bath, has held an online admission event for the ICC students of RDFZ King’s College School Hangzhou on February 20, 2020. Over 70 grade 10 and 11 students attended the event held on the Teams platform and organised by the School’s university counselling department.
According to Sandy Zhang, Head of University Counselling, it was not easy to persuade universities to hold an event in such an innovative format. The counselling team has been working tirelessly, reaching out to universities worldwide, and we are very grateful that the University of Bath has agreed to give the online format a try.
The new format of the event was certainly a success. Ms. Newby, the university’s admissions representative, was pleasantly surprised by the high number of students who turned up to attend her presentation. Thanks to the Teams platform’s versatility, she was able to live-stream a video of her lecture, as well as to show the students the slides showcasing the university’s impressive facilities.
The University of Bath is consistently ranked within UK’s top ten universities. Ms. Newby characterised it as “best in the West [of England]”. Located in the historic city of Bath – Britain’s second-safest university city just 80 minutes away from London, the university boasts a green and self-sufficient campus with a variety of modern facilities. All students are guaranteed on-campus housing, and the university is ranked 4th best in the UK for its student experience.
The university offers a highly competitive academic provision and maintains a focus on a vibrant social environment on campus. One third of the university’s students come to Bath from outside the UK to study such subjects as Architecture, Marketing, Psychology, Business – all of them top-ranked among other universities in the UK. Bath also offers unique work placements where students get to work for one of the top global companies as part of their academic experience, and so have impressive work experience on their CV even before they graduate.

Speaking directly to University of Bath was an extremely beneficial experience for our pupils. We are always committed  to helping our pupils make informed choices about where to further their education and ensure they are able to access the world’s top universities.
Following the success of this event, the university counselling team is already working on bringing more world-class universities to our students in the nearest future.
