Fire Training Activity

Friday 29 Nov 2019

What to do if there’s a fire at our school?

Where are the fire exits for rapid evacuation?

Do you remember how to use a fire extinguisher?

In order to increase teachers’ awareness of safety and to enhance their firefighting skills, our school held fire training last Tuesday afternoon. All supporting school staff participated.

The security supervisor showed staff how to use dry powder fire extinguishers, simple water-based fire extinguishers and fire blankets. After having completed video-based training, staff had the chance to practice the Pull, Aim, Squeeze and Sweep (referred to as PASS) technique they had to learnt to put out real fire burning in diesel barrels. Canteen staff were also given special training in how to use fire blankets.

A safe campus is our shared goal. All school staff have a duty to help students evacuate the school during a fire, so it’s vital for them to know what steps to take. If they can practice remaining calm and organised during a fire, they’ll be ready to ensure everyone’s safety when it really counts.

Kill fire, before it kills you.
