Friday 22 Jun 2018

A six-week programme of teacher training has come to end at RDFZ King’s College School Hangzhou.

The programme, which was organised by the school’s senior academic team, focused on various topics, in preparation for the school’s opening in September.

It covered teaching methods for different age levels and aimed to help teachers understand how to best deliver an integrated Chinese and western-style curriculum. Key international education theories and methods, and the school’s culture, were also examined by participants.

Coordination of the programme was led by Dr Natalie Pitre, deputy director of Chinese teacher training at Dipont Education, who also is part of the school’s senior academic team. The team spent a year developing the training, ensuring that it was based on the most up-to-date aspects of China’s international education.

Each of the five members of senior academic team has previously worked in leading international schools around the world and their rich professional and academic experience ensured that the training was especially current.

Throughout the programme, teachers benefitted from the lively and interesting discussion topics, up-to-date content and practical demonstration classes. It mixed both theoretical and practical sessions to ensure teachers understood the school’s holistic educational philosophy.

RDFZ King’s College School Hangzhou places great importance on maximising each student’s potential, encouraging them to become active learners. Teacher training sessions, along with other professional development initiatives planned throughout the school year, ensure teaching staff continuously update their skills and remain at the cutting edge of teaching theories and methods.
