We recently hosted a roaring success of a sleepover for our 50 primary students at King’s College School, Hangzhou. Themed “DinoSnore,” this dinosaur extravaganza was packed with activities that had our young students smiling from ear to ear.
The night kicked off with students dressed in their best dinosaur pajamas, setting the scene for an unforgettable adventure. The excitement was palpable as they joined students from other sections for the much-anticipated Dino Dance Party. The main theatre echoed with laughter and music as the children danced to dino-themed songs, showcasing their best T-Rex moves and pterodactyl flaps.
Following the dance, our budding paleontologists had the chance to get their hands dirty with a fossil excavation activity. Each student was given a ‘fossil’ to dig through, revealing hidden dinosaur treasures inside. It was a delight to see their faces light up as they uncovered their prehistoric finds.
Hunger pangs were then creatively addressed with a pop-up Pizza Party courtesy of Wendy Pizza. Students had a blast making their own pizzas with a variety of ingredients, creating unique dino-pizzas that were as fun to make as they were to eat. The sight of students eagerly crafting and then devouring their culinary creations was a highlight of the evening.
The fun continued with a story session led by Mr. B. The room was filled with giggles as students shared their own tales, including an amusing and slightly embarrassing story from Mr. Roberts’ youth. The storytelling session transitioned seamlessly into a s’mores feast around the barbecue. Some students enjoyed the gooey treats so much they came back for fourth helpings, proving that you can never have too many s’mores.
As the night wound down, students cozied up in their tents, which they had assembled earlier in the day with their parents. Midnight feasts with friends added to the thrill of the night, even if Mr. Moore, Ms. Hu, Mr. B, and Mr. Roberts didn’t get much sleep due to the chatter of some very excited little dinosaurs.
The next morning, students woke up to a hearty breakfast together, followed by receiving their very own DinoSnore sleepover T-shirts as a memento. The fun didn’t stop there – they spent the morning enjoying dragon boat festival activities before heading home, tired but happy, after lunchtime.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the students for their wonderful engagement and fun, and to the parents for their support (hope you enjoyed your child-less night off!). Special thanks to Mr. B for his wonderful storytelling, Mr. Moore for cooking s’mores and ensuring everyone was asleep before bedtime, and Ms. Hu who was kind, patient, and attentive to students who needed maternal comfort. And a colossal thank you to the greatest Dinosaur of them all: Mrs. C, who planned and organized everything.
The DinoSnore sleepover was a tremendous success, filled with laughter, learning, and lots of dino-fun. It was a night to remember for our students, and we can’t wait to host the next adventure at King’s College School, Hangzhou!
